WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Michael Thie

As my lead senior photographer, he has supported me at numerous school events. I can trust him never to miss an important moment or shot, and his attention to detail when editing both photos and video is second to none.

Ollie met us on-site at Clevedon Hall and took a huge number of photos, and even used his drone with great effect. He is well-mannered, professional and personable, and all the firefighters on my station commented on how well he organised us. I would 100% recommend Ollie and look forward to working with him again on further projects.

His Media skills are excellent and been used to great effect as part of the school Media Team who film school events and edit them for a showreel shown online and to all students, as well as editing videos within the local community for park run which he has published online.

Hello!

My name is Ollie McCartney, I am a 17 year old photographer based in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset. Over the past 4 years I have gained a wealth of experience through school projects and the wider community of North Somerset.

Being the former Head Senior photographer and videographer of the CSSMT (Clevedon School Student Media Team) means I have completed over 200 shoots for live events and sports. Another scheme I was apart of was the BBC School Report helping the school reach further markets for advertising and fundraising. Along side these opportunity’s, I recently completed my Photography GCSE through AQA which I achieved a 7 in.

Out of school I have been practising photography for 3 years, and in March 2020 I had the opportunity to be the official photographer for Clevedon Salthouse Fields parkrun. I have achieved some of my best shots here which have been published through flickr and Facebook. During the first COVID Lockdown I was offered to edit a parody music video for parkrun which once published had nearly 1k shares and over 55k views on Facebook. This led to the opportunity to make a parody video of “Three Lions” for parkun.

My
photography skills and services have been described as "As my lead senior photographer, he has supported me at numerous school events. I can trust him never to miss an important moment or shot, and his attention to detail when editing both photos and video is second to none." Comments have been made about my work describing it as "His Media skills are excellent and been used to great effect as part of the school Media Team who film school events and edit them for a showreel shown online and to all students, as well as editing videos within the local community for park run which he has published online. He has also participated regularly in the National BBC School Report initiative, filming and interviewing people for the event. Ollie’s enthusiasm and drive will be no doubt allow him to thrive in any situation he finds himself in, and I wish him the best of luck for the future." When I achieved Student Of The year 2019 the speech mentioned " Mr Thie has commented that the filming and photography of this student has developed hugely and the photos that were produced of sports day 2019 were some of the best student photos he has seen, and that they really captured the day"

My other passions and hobbies on the side of Photography and Film include Music. I have been playing the bass guitar for the past 9 years with opportunities to play at small gig venues such as the Fleece in Bristol, a venue where young artists have played such as Ed Sheeran. Alongside my passion for bass guitar I have been playing Acoustic and Electric Guitars for 4 years and Keyboard for the last 2 years. Recently I achieved my 2nd Kyu in Karate under the style based on Wadō-ryū. I have been practicing karate for just under 5 years.
